Dreamless
Cosmic Folly
Cosmic Folly wakes sleepy rock and roll scene with “Dreamless” Norman Oklahoma’s best kept musical secret is now in plain sight with Cosmic Folly’s independent album release “Dreamless”. Available on all streaming platforms and vinyl on May 22nd, this 10-track introduction to a band that has been around for years is a refreshing reminder that original rock music can still be made in an age of endless loop delay pedals and AI samples. Recorded over 12 weeks in the winter of 2025 on a couple of laptops and a mixing board, “Dreamless” is a powerful example of what can happen when three musicians are performing at a high level. “I don’t think any of us knew that these recording sessions were going to coalesce into an album,” bass player Roy Griffin says. “We were trying to get a few songs recorded so we could put them online.” As the session’s weeks began to turn into months, it became clear that something more was on offer. “I really like the organic feel of the recordings. They are a pretty good representation of us considering we have been primarily a live band for years.” Don’t let the homemade nature of these sessions fool you, these guys are serious songwriters, and their craftsmanship breaks through the paywall of formal studio sessions. Notable tracks include: Cry Peace- a reggae inspired protest tune; Dreamless-a psychedelic rock trip that dives deep; Compassion-a truly funky song with positive vibes; The Lumberjack-anthemic power pop that screams non-conformity. Formed in 2013 by Brad West lead guitar and vocals, Paul McFarland on drums, and Roy Griffin on bass and vocals under a few different names, Cosmic Folly has prided themselves on writing songs that are all at once simple, elegant, diverse and complicated. On the surface, straightforward tunes quickly turn into genre bending sojourns. Diving deep into the lyrics will find potent questions about life and society all while keeping their tongue firmly in their cheeks. “Dreamless” by Cosmic Folly will be available May 22nd.
